How scores get from the course to the board

Pat is keeping the card for his group on hole 6. Mary is following from home. The organizer wants to know which of 30 groups have gone quiet. Live scoring is really three jobs: getting scores in, keeping the round honest, and putting the result where people are watching. This page covers the first two; the leaderboard page covers the third.

One scorer per group, one short code

Each group gets its own short scoring code, alongside QR and direct-link access. The scorer opens the link in their phone browser, enters the code, and is on their group’s card. There is no app to install and no account to create, which matters at a charity event where most of the field has never heard of Parful and never needs to.

The format decides the card

A scramble card takes one team score per hole. Stroke play and Stableford take per-player scores, and gross and net resolve from the same entries. Match play stages record match results. The scorer never chooses what kind of number to type; the event’s format already decided, and contests like closest to the pin and longest drive are recorded alongside the main card.

The card desk, because paper always shows up

Some groups will score on paper no matter what the welcome email said. The card desk is built for entering finished paper scorecards after the round: the same validation, the same results, the same leaderboard. A field that was half phones and half pencils still produces one complete final board.

The operations view keeps the round moving

The organizer’s scoring view shows the state of the field group by group: who is posting, who has stalled, and, on a shotgun start, which starting holes those groups came from. That is the difference between wondering why the board looks thin and knowing that the group that started on 14 has not posted since the turn.

Do scorers need an app or an account?

No. Scoring runs in the phone browser from a link, QR code or the group’s short code.

Which formats does live scoring support?

Scrambles and team formats, stroke play, Stableford, and match play stages. The card matches the format automatically.

What happens to groups that score on paper?

Their finished cards are entered at the card desk after the round and join the same leaderboard and results.

Can the organizer see which groups are behind?

Yes. The scoring operations view shows per-group posting status throughout the round.
